I torture my husband with my laughable sleeping habits

I have been torturing my husband with my sleeping habits sense we have been together. People have told me my sleeping habits are short of crazy. Sense I sleep like a dead person I didnt think it was that bad. I am that person who has slept through an earthquake. We live on a busy street and there will be sirens going off and I wont even move an inch. My Dad used to ride a full dresser Harley motorcycle and I would fall asleep sitting up on the back of it. My stepsister would draw an imaginary line in the middle of the bed we had to share when we went on family vacations. She said if I crossed the imaginary line it would mean trouble.

Then I met my husband and he got to feel the full wrath of my over the top sleeping habits. When we first started living together I would talk in my sleep and sometimes sleepwalk in the middle of the night. My husband would get up to get a glass of milk and I would follow him out there and yell what are you doing? Literally scaring the hooey out of him. He would tell me the next morning the crazy stuff I did and of course I could not believe it. There was no recollection of my rebellious sleep acts.  I would also sit up like a bat out of hell and yell out stop or dont do that babe. At first he would be nice and tell me to go back to sleep. Nonetheless my sleeping habits would just get ramped up to a whole other level. I would yell at him and say in an aggressive voice what babe leave me alone I am sleeping. He finally was done with being nice and would wake me up out of my deep sleep and I would realize I had been scream-talking while running a marathon in my sleep. Luckily for my husband I grew out of sleep talking and scream-yelling.

However my shenanigan sleeping habits did not end there. I had a new move and that was scream-coughing in the middle of the night. My husband said I would start to do it right when he falls asleep. I had no recollection of this. Next he would tell me to be quiet and in my whiny half-sleep voice I need it babe I am sick. This has been going on for the last six months and now my husband says I have activated the no rules protocol. Now my husband claps really loudly and I immediately wake up out of a dead sleep and say whats going on? He affirms I am doing the loud coughing again.

I also kick my feet and move them up and down in my sleep too. Either I am running a marathon in my sleep or I am running away from someone. Still till this day the kicking of the feet hasnt let up. My poor husband probably wants to put tape around my feet so I will stop kicking them. I either have super powers in my sleep and am playing out kicking someones butt or I think I am Bruce Lee father of mixed martial arts putting the pain on people in my deep sleep. There is something in me that wants to be very active in my sleep. Rarely is there a night that goes by that I am not pulling any move. I am blessed to be able to fall asleep easily. I know tons of people who complain about sleep insomnia and are light sleepers. However being a a shenanigan sleeper and driving my husband nuts is not the best either. People I need some solutions here.

Do you suffer from crazy sleeping habits? If so what are some suggestions for going about remedying it?

Hi Crystal – I got such a kick out of your post but do I feel sorry for your husband. I have a no-sleep problem and my husband snores – not very much but still enough to make me want to thump him. I love the clapping hands idea – May have to borrow that.

Your sleeping habits are too funny. I dont have any sleep habits because I dont sleep. I just lay in bed all night waiting for sleep to happen. Of course my husband snores so it is like being in bed with a vacuum cleaner.

Maybe a sleep doctor would help. My ex brother-in-law had to undergo a lot of tests because he used to sleepwalk and do really crazy stuff which didnt go over well when he was out to sea on a Navy ship…

haha. I would think guys that he bunked with would be throwing their shoes at him in the middle of the night. A sleep doctor is something to look into. =)

I had to read this post because I thought I had the WORST sleep habits imaginable. I went to sleep at 5 AM this morning…bad night. Having said that let me tell you I laughed my head off as I read this because you so reminded me of my husband in the early days of our marriage. He would sleep walk (naked) always challenging when you had guests over. He also sleep talked. The problem was because he was mobile and sounded coherent you wouldnt realize that something was off until he started talking about the aliens. He doesnt do any of that any more but it still makes for great story telling. :)

hahaha…And I thought I have the strangest sleeping habits! I need a double-bed to sleep as I need to roll in the bed in my sleep. Many-a-times I fell from my bed due to this peculiar rolling tendency.
