My experience with the public library

I dont know why it took me so long to figure out that I didnt have to buy all my books at Barnes and Nobles or on Amazon.com. Dont get me wrong I love owning books but I also like having a roof over my head too. Now the public library is in my top five places that I love to go to every week. There is a plethora of content. You want to read any book you can think of they have it. You need insurance they have someone who comes to the library and helps you sign up. The powers that behave classes there for helping a person to find a job. Oh and did I say that this is all free dollars? You can find this at the beautiful brand new Bellevue library that I go to in Nashville TN.

I havent had this library not have a book that I wanted to check out yet. It is astonishing. They have all the latest issues of all the popular magazines. You want to read todays paper or The Wall street journal they have all the up to date copies. In the front of the library they have all the new books that come out or that the librarians recommend. They have all the new movies on DVD plus tons of TV shows to check out. I get an email sent to me when my book or movie is ready to be picked up. The librarians are also helpful in guiding you to find a book you need.

There are numerous resources at the library. If you are not tech savvy they have classes on how to use your iPad or phone. If you need help finding a job they offer courses in how to draft a cover letter and network. Assistance in learning how to use Microsoft or excel are available certain days of the week. There is a free yoga class on Wednesdays. We all know how expensive those yoga classes can get. It is nice to know there is a free one every week. You want to learn a foreign language they now have a website online that has over a 100 languages. They have story time for children and have a whole children and teens sections for books and movies. They are always updating their resources and getting new classes that are complimentary.

Not many things are charge-less in life anymore and it is refreshing to know that the government pays for each city to have access to a public library. When I was in college I would find all my books there that I needed to write my papers. I could have used the college library but the librarians where helpful and I could check out as many books as I desired. Also being on a budget and being a book worm like I am it was wonderful to have access to all the books and magazines I wanted to read. Some of those magazines subscriptions can get up there in price and I could spend an afternoon at the library reading and catching up on all my favorite magazines. There is an abundance of free knowledge at the library if you just tap into it and use the resources.

So if you cant get your In style or Forbes magazine go get a library card. All it costs me is some more steps on my fit-bit which I love cause then I have burned enough calories to get a hot coffee while I read the paper. I cant wait for the next on the house yoga class that I get to zen out to. No more waiting for that book to go on sale that I desperately want to read. The movie Ex Machina that I have wanted to see but needed to save money I can pick up at that at the library. I am going to take that cost-less class about how to read a book on my mobile device. I never know when I will be stranded somewhere and need some entertainment. So what are you waiting for? Go get your life-changing public library card.

It always amazes me how so many people dont fully get all of the various media sources that libraries make available to the public for free. When my laptop got all infected a few months ago the library computers were a lifesaver for me.
