Dogs are emotional saviors When I come home from a twelve hour shift and I am emotionally drained my little  puppy who is waiting for me with her adorable face and wagging her tail brings my stress level from a ten down to a five. I cant resist her cuteness. Whatever I was worried about flys out my mind as soon as I get my Ari time.

2. Dogs make you laugh My dog does the funniest things. One thing she will do is lay on her back and sprawl out with her legs in the air. When I give her food to eat sometimes she will spit it out as if she is too good for that kind of food. Ari has a waddle and a prance that she does. She gives off this sense of I am amazing and all of you other dogs should know it.

3. Dogs help you get healthier Working out is a love hate relationship for me. On the one hand I know I need to do it but something in me feels like there is a ten pound weight on my legs. To actually get my work out clothes on and head out the door just seems like a daunting task. My puppy has a limitless amount of energy and forces me to get out of the house. I live in a condo and dont have a backyard.  Now I take her on hikes at the park. She pulls me on her leash the whole way saying in her dog voice hurry up lady. It is go time. I also have to take her on walks. Getting a dog was the best thing for my health.

4. Dogs help you think creatively.

I was not on Instagram as much until I got my dog. I love to take pictures with her at the park. Also I love to take pictures of  when I am out exploring different parks new spots with my dog. I love that show Game of Thrones and took a picture of Ari on this gigantic wooden seat that looks like the character the giant would sit in.  She inspires me to take beautiful pictures and have fun with them .

5. Dogs are the friend who will never judge you You are having a bad day and all you want to do is cry. My dog will comfort me when I am feeling low. She will lick my face and sit in my lap. I know that Ari will always be there for me and it is the best feeling ever.

6. Dogs keep you company in the kitchen while your cooking My dog stays in the kitchen the whole time I am cooking. Of course she wants to taste the food. She is so adorable that I cant resist not giving her a bite.I give her a taste and she goes on observing my cooking.  Even if I am not doing a good job she makes me feel like I am cause she will eat the scraps I give her.

7. Dogs show you how to not take yourself so seriously My dog will flap on her back and want me to wrestle with her. She makes me smile when I see her chase after squirrels and chipmunks. When I feel like I am worrying way too much I just look over at Ari and see how content she looks. It reminds to chill out and let go.

8. Dogs help you stay safe Someone who wants to rob your home will think twice about doing it if they know you have a dog.  If you are a woman living alone a dog will make you feel protected. A criminal who hears a barking dog will be less likely to harm a person because they will be afraid the dog will bite them or bring attention to their presence.

9.  Dogs are mentally stimulating My dog Ari has a sister Lucy who the exact same breed. I will watch them for hours chase squirrels dig holes  and wrestle with each other. They are both curious furry creatures and it is fun to see what they get interested in next.20150523_122544

10. My dog makes me a better person Sense I live in a condo I always worry my dog will stay bored. So I found myself putting on animal documentaries because I knew she would like it. I would never have done that before. When it is winter time I would look on dog websites to find music that would make a dog relax. I found this cool rain meditation video and it calmed my puppy in no time. I also always want to get her the best bones and treats. I think about someone other then myself and it pleases me to make her happy.  She is my best friend besides my husband and I am grateful he talked me into getting her.

Its hard for me to imagine life without pets. Im equal parts cat and dog person but dogs have a slight edge since they can go on car rides to the store. Dogs are so loyal and can teach us a lot about living in the present moment.
